SUMMARY:Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House
DESCRIPTION:Join us during the Library of Virginia’s quarterly First Fridays event for a book talk related to the evening’s theme: architecture. Steven M. Reiss\, an architect and a lifelong student of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work\, will discuss his book on the history of the Pope-Leighey house\, a Frank Lloyd Wright–designed house in Northern Virginia\, as well as his research for the book and related materials he is donating to the Library. \n\n\n\nReiss began working at the Pope-Leighey House in 2001 as a docent for in-depth house tours and was later hired by the current owner of the house\, the National Trust for Historic Preservation\, as an on-site architectural consultant. He has given numerous presentations and lectures on Wright’s work\, with a special emphasis on Usonian houses\, dwellings such as the Pope-Leighey House designed for “families of moderate income.” Reiss has taught classes on Wright at the University of Richmond and Virginia Tech. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact Anne McCrery at anne.mccrery@lva.virginia.gov or 804.692.3568. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required\, but suggested if you’d like to receive email updates. \n\n\n\nLearn more about First Fridays at LVA at www.lva.virginia.gov/public/first_fridays. \n\n\n\nLimited free parking is available underneath the Library at 800 East Broad Street. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister online.
