YAF Hard Hat Tour – Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

| Join YAF for a Hard Hat Tour of the THRIVE Expansion of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, hosted by 3North Architects. |
Join us to review and discuss the challenges and solutions for designing a highly unique project that combines greenhouse construction and systems with more standard building construction, as well as lush garden landscapes and lakes. We will walk the site of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Conservatory and Garden Expansion, where key takeaways will be discussed for making this specialized project a success.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the accessible areas and pathways throughout the site and identify key characteristics that make them inclusive
Understanding the key differences between greenhouse construction and standard building construction, and how to integrate the two together
Understand USDA requirements around invasive species such as butterflies and how those impact design decisions
Understand important features/requirements of a butterfly emergence gallery
