RWID: Meet Laura Battaglia, AIA

March 29 @ 5:30 pm 6:30 pm

Join Richmond Women in Design for a lecture by VCU professor Laura Battaglia, AIA. She will be discussing her research and paper titled: “Celebrating a Little-known Powerhouse for Racial Equity: Documenting the Legacy of Charles H. Williams on the Campus of Hampton University.”

Supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Laura continues to direct the grant team in developing a new cross-disciplinary digital archive to elevate the work of Charles H. Williams during his tenure as a professor at Hampton University in the early 1900s. Structured around the theme of architecture and dance, the digital archive is a unique tool for the teaching of humanities. The main categories of the archive – Architecture, Dance, and Equity – serve as topics of critical inquiry and offer a path to understanding these three aspects of Charles H. Williams’ influence.

The lecture will be followed with a Q & A discussion. Food and beverages will be provided.
