2026 Scholarship Application

AIA Richmond is committed to supporting the next generation of architects.

The chapter is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program through June 1, 2026.

ELIGIBILITY

Graduating seniors from the Greater Richmond Metropolitan area that have been accepted into architecture degree program are eligible to apply for the $10,000 scholarship.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications for the 2026 award are being accepted through June 1, 2026.

Application materials include:

  • A personal essay (see details below)
  • School transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation (provided non-family members)
  • Letter of acceptance into an architecture degree program

If selected, the applicant will be required to supply a W9, a photograph, and a completed student demographic form.

APPLICATION WEIGHTING

Applications will be judged by our K12 Outreach Committee on the following:

  • 40% – Personal essay
  • 30% – Letters of Recommendation
  • 20% – Academic Record
  • 10% – Extracurricular activities

ESSAY: Personal Interest in Architecture

In 500 words or less, please share your inspiration for pursuing a degree in architecture.

  • What draws you to the field of architecture? Describe the experiences, observations, or moments that have shaped your decision to pursue this degree.
  • We encourage you to be specific and personal in your response. There is no single “right” approach—we want to hear your authentic voice and understand where your passion for architecture comes from.  Historically we’ve found essays over-utilizing AI tools lacking in personal voice.
