Front Porch: The Shockoe Project

October 23 @ 5:30 pm 8:30 pm

Join us to learn about The Shockoe Project, a collective effort to honor and preserve Richmond’s hallowed grounds of Black history, presented by Baskerville.

This initiative connects and commemorates a constellation of sites including the Trail of the Enslaved, the Shockoe Hill African Burying Ground, and Richmond’s First African Burial Ground.

Discover the vision for new, planned spaces like the future Lumpkin’s Slave Jail Pavilion and the National Slavery Museum. The project will transform Shockoe Bottom into a multi-faceted space for remembrance, reflection, and community, reclaiming the historical narratives of Richmond’s Black experience for future generations.
